Update 6/25/11:

Last night, (Friday, 6/24) was the final night of the Viper Room residency for LA powerhouse: Boy Hits Car. The night had a great overall turnout & all of the bands put their heart into the show. July 1st weekend is fast approaching and I am still looking for bands interested in playing at Viper on an unlimited free guest list. Email me (Michael@viperroom.com) if you’d like to play.

I recently left my marketing position at the designer headphone company, V-MODA. I plan on pursuing talent buying and rock promoting full time and I am excited for the opportunities to throw great parties and create amazing nights for bands. My team is currently scouting new venues.

My own band’s show at the Viper Room this past April was a major success. While my old singer was here for the show, he transferred four tracks of our long-overdue album to me. I recently got my new rig running and should be able to produce rough mixes of the tracks by mid-July. We are in the process of auditioning new singers and our next live date will be posted directly following our decision.

Local rock band, The Binges, recently broke up. Fortunately Mayuko and Tsuzumi Okai have no intention of stepping down from the stage and they plan on forming another band in the near future. For more details you can visit the band’s facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/thebinges).

I am accepting more students for guitar lessons- all ages, all styles, all abilities. I have been playing for over 20 years and teaching for over 7. I am also accepting session and touring jobs. Send me an email at info@mikekindel.com if you are interested!

Expect huge updates in the coming months. My team has some tricks up our sleeves and we’re about to take this game to the next level.

 Update 1/15/11:

Happy New year! Hope you had a wonderful holiday!

I'm looking for a ROCK N ROLL singer with a solid voice & image! Similar to Guns, Audioslave, Buckcherry, etc..

My concert review of Richie Kotzen's latest Viper Room show has been posted on Guitar Messenger. Be sure to check out the rest of the site. Ivan and his team have been up to some pretty awesome stuff lately!

Update 11/5/10:

V-Moda: They are a fashion-forward; Hollywood based headphone company with some products worth checking out! Their flagship model, the Crossfade LP, is a luxury consumer product inspired by the European DJ scene. The company is also in the process of unveiling its fashion line and from what I’ve seen I’m impressed!

Halloween at the House of Blues was killer! We had amazing bands, DJs, tarot card readers, face painters and even girls dancing on the bar!! The costumes were so awesome that we may have to have a Halloween show every month! The House of Blues calendar is nearly completely booked for the rest of the year. Email me and we’ll see if we can find a spot in January. Soul Satisfaction in the Foundation Room is THE place to be.

The Viper Room is gearing up for the holiday season and the New Year. We have some awesome acts coming through so keep checking the calendar and come out for some loud, gritty rock and roll. Bands: keep sending me your links!!! We want to get you on the best stage in Hollywood before the year is out. We are almost completely booked so if you’re looking for a final show of the year you gotta hurry!!

I’m playing the Viper Room on November 15th with fellow Berklee grads, Meg Todd and her band. This will be my first time performing on the stage, myself. I’m stoked so come out and show your love!!

Mike

Update 7/25/10:

Calling all LA based Rock Bands!!

I am on the lookout for true rock bands in the area with a desire to rock the roof of the world-famous Viper Room on the Sunset Strip!

I have teamed up with Can of Jam Productions (Chris Ford and Kelly McGarry) to continue the tradition of bringing in great local and national talent 7 nights a week. Send me a link (info@mikekindel.com) for consideration! We have amazing music ahead so please check the calendar.

Alongside booking for the Viper Room, we are also hosting various nights at the House of Blues and Busby’s in West Hollywood. Both are great places for live music so come out and say hi!

Just as a reminder, I am still teaching guitar lessons and accepting session and live work. Drop me a message if you would like to schedule an appointment or discuss rates. As always, you can find samples of my playing under the media tab!

Rock N’ Roll Soul is in another temporary hold. More updates on this will come as soon as I know more details. We appreciate your patience and we promise it will be well worth the wait!

Cheers!

Mike

Update 6/22/10:

New audio clips posted. New site under construction. Now available for guitar session work, teaching and live shows! Email me at info@mikekindel.com for rates and booking!

Here's a short teaser from the upcoming release "Rock N' Roll Soul" The tune is called I Wanna Know. This is a very basic rough mix and there are no edits or effects applied. It's not even comped so the takes are not necessarily the ones being used in the final mix. Listen to this purely as a rough idea of what's to come. Let me know what you think!

Update 5/2/10:

Rock N’ Roll Soul! The album finally has a name!! Agustin and I decided to name the project after the song we feel most accurately represents us. The lyrics reflect our tumultuous feelings towards the current state of the music biz and its lack of Rock N’ Roll Soul. The song is packed with an excessive “don’t give a f**k” attitude and we can’t wait to unveil it to you all! My good friend, Ivan Chopik came in and put down his solo for our tune, Fire. Vocals are almost finished, which will mark the end of tracking. Then we move on to comping and editing takes. Slowly, but surely, it’s starting to sound like a rock album!

As soon as some of the correct takes are picked and we can bounce a basic mix I’ll be sure to throw up a short teaser!  In the meantime, if you haven’t, check out Slash’s self-titled solo album. The work features many different musicians from Ozzy to Fergie and I feel that he did an excellent job with it. He is currently out touring the project with Myles Kennedy (singer of Alter Bridge) –Check out Back From Cali- the song kicks butt! I am in the video for Slash’s single, By The Sword, featuring Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother. It was a great experience and director, Vance Burberry, is incredible to watch in action!

I took a week off to go back to the east coast to graduate Berklee and spend some time with family and friends- and play an open mic night with my dentist!! It was nice and relaxing, but it’s good to be back in Los Angeles. The internships are over and now I’m off trying to do my thing!

Peace and Rock N’ Roll

-Mike

Update 4/24/10:

Check out Tyrone Wells!!

Update 2/19/10:

Having just witnessed thousands of miles of beauty, I can say first hand that the United States is truly an inspiring and humbling place. Recently, I relocated from Connecticut to Los Angeles for an internship to finish out my career at Berklee College of Music in the entertainment capitol of the world. Upon arrival, I settled down with two internships: Nettwerk Music Group and Postion Music. So far both sites have me doing a wide variety of tasks with responsibilities ranging from A&R to Artist/Producer Management to reviewing contracts to copyrighting and registering works for performance royalties. With classes and rehearsal thrown in the mix, I have enough to stay busy for a while. The first-hand experience will prove beneficial for future potential employment opportunities and general knowledge towards the quest to support myself solely on my artistic work.

I feel acclimated enough to the new city/environment to start accepting students for private instruction as well as musicians needing a session guitarist for their work. I have only been involved in a couple sessions so far and would love to check out more studios!

On the eastern coast, vocals are currently being tracked for the album. The drop date is (possibly) mid to late March pending the wait on mastering. We are still playing around with a new band name/album name. Once we find something truly representative, the album artwork, myspace, twitter, facebook and all the other popular social networking mediums will follow.

This site will also be “going under the knife” so to speak. New layouts are being drafted so stay tuned. Big things on the horizon!!

PEACE AND ROCK N ROLL,

-Mike

Update 12/19/09:

For those about to ROCK. We Salute You!!

Stand up and be counted
For what you are about to receive
We are the dealers
We'll give you everything you need
Hail hail to the good times
'Cause rock has got the right of way
We ain't no legend, ain't no cause
We're just livin' for today

-AC/DC

Album basics are done! Arranging time to track the guitars before I leave for Los Angeles amidst finals and completing Berklee related paperwork.

You guys will not be disappointed when the album is finished. The tentative date is still late Feb or early March!! BIG thanks to: Claire (bass), Massimo (drums), Bruno (keys) and Randy (rhythm guitars)! They all did an incredible job laying down the foundation to the songs. There will be 11 songs total and we are still working on a name. Email me if you have any suggestions!

I'm still waiting on a few potential internship companies to get back to me but the feedback so far has been very positive. We shall see!!

PEACE AND ROCK N ROLL!!

-Mike

Update 10/15/09:

I’m Back!

Right now = senior year of college and gearing up for LA in the Spring. I put together a killer group of players for the Jazz/Blues night at the BPC. We are set to record the demo this week.

The album is coming along as well! Everyone is extremely excited. The songs that we are working up sound amazing. We’re pretty proud of what we have done so far and we know you will love it!!! Tracking begins at the end of November and it is set to drop some time in February. Stay Tuned.

I’ve been playing around the Boston area quite a bit and trying to get all the touristy things out of my system as I have been in the area for long enough to have no excuse not to have experienced them. I came to the realization that Berklee students in general do not really care for sports. Bummer. Some people should really have less chord scales and more hot wings.

My senior recital is December 3rd, which is right around the corner and the players lined up for the gig are great. Save the date! Put it in your iPhone or Blackberry or Blueberry or whatever you use these days- you don’t want to miss it. Friday Crimes has been temporarily moved to the back burner for a while, however we still have some dates open here and there. We also have a ROCKIN’ new drummer, ALE! He brings an intense, fresh edge to the sound. If you would like us to play before I ship off, you know how to reach me.

Song of the Day: So Cold by Richie Kotzen

As always- much love,

Mike

Update 5/21/09:

Hola,

The last few months have, as always, been extremely busy. Most of my free time has been allocated to school (finals) and many more gigs, yay! All 4 bands are running smoothly and are currently booking shows in Boston and surrounding areas. The Mike Kindel Blues Project Band Thing- something like that- just played Boston’s HOUSE OF BLUES for Berklee Staff. Friday Crimes is (again) looking for a new drummer. (If you are interested, shoot me an email to set up an audition) I made it through the end of the toughest semester yet and currently- finally- I am in Florida on business (you know, sky diving, wakeboarding, jet skiing) until the 23rd and will be back for Friday Crimes dates on the 24th and 28th. Summer semester starts on the 26th. Then after that its fall semester, then LA!
Can’t Wait!

Rock n Roll,

Mike

Update 3/30/09:

Big things on the Horizon!!! The Pink Floyd Cover Band is HEADLINING Harpers Ferry tonight! Doors at 8 so please check it out!!! My rock band, Friday Crimes is still awaiting tracks for the Gun N Roses soundalike project, but we are very excited for it. Many, many shows coming up. After tonight痴 gig, I am playing April 7th at 7.30 in Berklee痴 921 building. April 10th The Pink Floyd group is playing Cask N Flagon, and April 18th we are playing at Boston College! Friday Crimes is playing April 30th at Cask N Flagon, May 11th at All Asia and May 30th at Felt Club in Boston. Stay tuned for more shows! I am feeling the crunch of the end of the semester and very soon I pick classes for what I intend to be my last two semesters on the east coast. I知 shooting for the LA internship in the spring of next year coupled with the last core credit classes. I will let you know as time gets closer!!

Outside of that and with the help of my friends, I designed and built myself a kickass pedalboard over spring break! Pictures will be posted shortly!

Much love
Much Rock,

Mike

Update 2/28/09:

This semester has been incredibly busy. I am currently gearing up for midterms, on top of my job and rehearsals for four bands and recording sessions. Classes this year seem to be heavily business based. My Pink Floyd project is practicing regularly again and booking shows. My rock band, FRIDAY CRIMES, is doing well. We welcomed Paul Wandtke to the group as our new drummer and he is kicking ass! We jammed with him over an Audioslave tune and got yelled at by John Mayer for playing too loud. We knew we found our boy. Shows are also currently being set up for the Boston area. Sunday we are going into the studio to do a cover of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door (the Guns version!) Check back soon for updates on that! Friday Crimes is also working with Vin Saggese to create cover art for the album One In The Chamber. Our myspace is updated (www.myspace.com/fridaycrimes) so be sure to keep tabs on that, as our music should be on there shortly. This site is still under construction, so I apologize for the inconvience, but everything should be fully functional soon!!

Much love.
Much more rock,

Mike

Update 6/1/08:

Site Construction begins. The Summer teaching job and the internship at the radio station continnue.

Update 3/23/08:

This Thursday I am playing a gig for my drummer's recital prep class. We're playing "Who Knows" off Band of Gypsys. Should be awesome!

Update 3/7/08:

Getting ready for midterms. Reauditioning for ratings. Editing the Show footage for youtube. Practicing. Studying. Rehearsing with my bands. Crazy busy!

Update 2/29/08:

The Pink Floyd Cafe Show was a huge success. Music Business students from the area got in touch with me after the show about playing a few gigs at other local colleges in the near future. On top of that the audio and video tracks are slowly coming back to me so that I can edit them for the portfolio/ make a music video and possibly press kit out of it.
I just joined a Power Metal band that plans to have a Cafe Show towards the end of the semester. This will be good for my chops and keep me stylistically diverse.
Next week's episode of 'Last Call' on the BIRN will explore my favorite movies and the music that went into the film-scoring behind them.
This Sunday, I am Jamming over blues and jazz with a brand new bassist and drummer.
My Blues/Rock band is still looking for Bar gigs.
